Reducing Anxiety and Challenging Behaviors:
People with mental
disabilities may benefit from visual supports which can assist in combating
anxiety and controlling challenging behaviors (clmarketing, 2021). With
predictability and a sense of structure, visual schedules and
"first-then" boards help reduce anxiety and agitation. Using visual
cues and reminders can help people complete difficult or unfamiliar tasks while
fostering a sense of security and minimizing behavioral issues. In order to
help people, get ready for social situations or outings that might be
stressful, visual timelines can be useful. Individuals can effectively
anticipate and mentally prepare for social situations by using visual cues to
break down the steps involved, which lowers anxiety and raises comfort levels (Reeve,
2023).
